History

When We Talk About Beautiful Tourist Places In Delhi. We Surely Not Miss Our Visit To This Attractive Monument. This Is Another UNESCO World Heritage Site In India Which Is Visited By A Wide Range Of Tourists.

The Building Contains The Tomb Of Mughal Emperor, Humayun’s. He Died In 1556 AD. He Was First Buried In His Palace In Purana Quila. Thereafter It Was Taken To Punjab By Khanjar Beg In 1558. The Complex Were Built On The Order Of The First Wife And Chief Consort Of Humayun’s, Hamida Banu Begam. Its Construction Took A Lot of Time, It Started In 1565 Ad And Completed In 1572 AD.

It Cost Around 1.5 Million At That Time To Build The Complex. It Construction Was Supervised By Hamida Banu Begam. Was The First Indian Structure To Use Red Stones On A Very Large Scale. The Complex Also Contains The Tombs Of Various People’s Such As Baber’s, Afsarwala And Their Minister’s As Well. Its Structure Was Given By Mirak Mirza Ghiyas And Sayyid Muhammad. It Is An Masterpiece Of Persian Architecture

The Whole Complex Cover Around 30 Acres Of Area, Out Of Which 13 Acres Consist Of Garden Known As Char Bagh. These Gardens Are Persian Style Bagh With Quadrilateral Layouts.

BACKGROUND
Qutub Minar Is The Tallest Minaret Made Up Of Bricks In The World. It Is An Unesco World Heritage Site In India. The Height Of The Building Is Around 73 Metres Approx. The Founder Of Delhi Sultanate, Qutab-Ud-Din-Aibak Started

The Construction Of This Beautiful Building. The Construction Began Around 1192 And Completed In1220.

After Aibak, Lltutmish The Son In Law And The Successor Of Aibak Completed Some Of Its Construction And Later Other Successors Completed Further Construction. Its Architecture Style Is Very Beautiful.

Before 1974, The Tourist Were Allowed To Have Access To The Top Of The Building. But After The Dangerous Lighting Incident Happened On 4 December 1981in Which Many People Died And Some Injured. The Visitor Was Not Allowed To Have Access To The Top.

The Building Is Made Up Of 5 Storeys Out Of Which First 3 Stories Are Made Of Red Sandstones And The Remaining Two Are Made Of Marbles And Sandstone.
